Overview:

This special issue aims to explore the role of probability distributions in modelling, analysis, and solving real-world problems across various applied disciplines. Probability distributions are fundamental to the understanding of uncertainty and variability in numerous fields, and their applications range from statistical inference and machine learning to health, engineering, economics, and beyond. We invite contributions that highlight both theoretical advancements in probability distributions as well as their practical applications in diverse areas.

Scope of the Special Issue:

We seek original research articles that focus on the definition, development, property, analysis, and application of probability distributions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Definition, derivation and properties of novel or generalized probability distributions.
  • Use of probability distributions in reliability engineering, system design, and optimization.
  • Applications in signal processing, communication systems, and image analysis.
  • Role of probability distributions in machine learning models (e.g., Bayesian inference, generative models).
  • Estimation techniques and algorithms based on probability distributions.
  • Applications in big data, predictive analytics, and pattern recognition.
  • Modelling uncertainty in financial markets using probability distributions, including risk management, asset pricing, and econometrics.
  • Advances in estimation techniques such as maximum likelihood estimation, Bayesian methods, and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Computational methods for simulating and fitting probability distributions to data.
